 Wholesale Furniture Brokers (WFB) is currently expanding its Tech department and is actively searching for someone to fulfill that need. We are currently hiring for the position of Senior Technologist.

WFB is a Kamloops startup company that has been consistently growing since it dove into eCommerce in 2002. We now have a branch in China and numerous partner Outlets across North America.  Job Title:  Senior Technologist

Job Location:  Kamloops, B.C.
Hours: Full-time 40 hrs / week
Wage: To be negotiated - Medical and Dental after 3 months

Description:
In the primary role, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and improving the current order management systems. The candidate will also be responsible for designing and implementing new systems, internal support, and network maintenance.

The candidate's main responsibility will be Software Development.

  • Maintain and improve current order management systems
  • Act as lead designer for implementation of new systems
  • Analyze current business processes and recommend new systems to improve performance
  • Assist management in planning tech priorities within WFB

The candidate will also, as needed, be responsible for:

Network Management: 

  • Trouble shoot, upgrade and maintain our Linux servers
  • Monitor and improve security of our internal network and servers
  • Prepare and rollout new hardware and network upgrades
Internal Support:
  • Provide desktop support for Windows computers within the office
  • Update website content as required by the sales and marketing department
  • Research and implement new tools to improve overall productivity
  • Provide other technical wizardry as required for other staff members
Required Skills & Knowledge:
The candidate will have 3 - 5 years experience in a Linux-Apache-MySql-PHP (LAMP) style environment designing web-based systems.  The job will require usage of all the following skills and technologies:
  • PHP / MySQL
  • Strong Object Oriented Design skills
  • RedHat / Ubuntu Linux servers
  • Website interface and graphic design
  • CVS source control
  • Project management and coordination with employees in remote locations
  • Exceptional English skills, both written and spoken
