Having grown up in an artsy community where anything goes, I have developed a bit of a style that beats to a different drum. I like to keep a basis of earthy tones, but then throwing something funky in the mix that doesn't necessarily "go". I'll pick pieces that most people might overlook, and then make it my own by pairing it with something most would have never thought of. Somehow it all comes together and feels comfortable for me. I think everybody needs to figure out their own style.

Functionality is another big deciding factor when picking furniture, as well. If I'm not going to use it, then I don't need it. This is especially important when working with small spaces. Keep things to a minimum.
