I tend to like contemporary and minimalist furniture - "keep it simple" is my motto when looking at furniture. Ideal furniture pieces are part of a picture, acting as elements of a central theme, yet not overbearing or rash.. a lack of subtlety in furniture is a real turn-off for me. At the same time, I abhor a lot of the tacky contemporary furniture that comes out these days. I'm also rather anti-traditional in taste, and thus am probably not the best person to seek advice from if you're buying something for the grandparents.

I think people will probably either love or detest my taste.. but I don't think that a bit of polarity is always a bad thing, especially when you're trying to make a decision!
